One of the few PJ songs I can tolerate and one of the even fewer PJ songs I actually enjoy!

Pearl Jam is a band I missed in the hurly burly of everyday life, so many tunes so busy life, I'm catching up here.

I was about to type 'not the best one I've heard so far', and the guitar break came right in there, my head nodded and my fingers went slippery.

OK, I obviously need to seek this band out.

I felt the same way up until a couple of years ago when I checked out a couple of their concert discs (they released every show they did a while back). What a great discovery! Lots of stuff I'd never heard before.

Try one of those...see what you think.

Brilliant, in every sense of the word. However, I wish Veeder would just let his voice rip, instead of keeping it subdued as in this song.

i think this song would have gone perfectly on the 'rounders' soundtrack
it could very easily be applied to gambling addiction, heroin addiction, etc...

I thought it was CSN&Y when the song started out. Very cool tune, I'm impressed with this one.

They played "Masters of War" by Bob Dylan. It seems so much angrier when Ed is singing it.

rob & Brian Del below have summed it up nicely.

Pearl Jam is possibly the best band around today, and have been for a few years now. They have matured exceptionally well.

Everyone should be forced to listen to their live CD's from their recent tours. Live meaning "live", no editing, no fiddeling with the knobs. Far, far out.

I also like the way they stick up their fingers to the record companies, doing things the way they want to do them.

PJ do have an extremely loyal fan base, and there must be a reason for that, no?

"Eddie Vedder (very much) Rules"

totally agree, but don't forget Mike McReady, totally awesome guitarist, especially live

Nice!
Interesting for Pearl Jam.
I agree - sounds a bit like early CSN&Y.

I like the rawness of the guitar solo. Definitely inspired by Neil Young (big surprise there).
