aw, bill, you and rebecca are so sweet together! I hope you're having a lovely and lovey valentine's day, and thanks so much for creating radioparadise.com, the best source for the best music on the airwaves!!

Let me tell you kids something:
When you hand your partner/wife the relevent words of this song on a Birthday Card you have scored some very major points indeed.
Thank god for people like Marc Cohn who can put down in words what we only feel, ( hopefully )

Hey, once in awhile it's fun to listen to a little "schmaltz." It's a nice song, nothing fancy, but nice.

She likely has, but she didn't go into a recording studio and create a permanent record of it.

It seems sincere to me, so who cares if it's a bit sappy? Isn't everyone sappy in intimate moments?

Great to hear Marc C on RP, altho I don't think this is necessarily one of his best songs. "Burning the Daze" from the late 90s is his best album, imo. I'll try to find time to upload a couple cuts that are a bit less schmaltzy.

I think this guy is very talented, but every time I hear this song I want to run from the room. It is soooo gooey. Ugh.

I TOTALLY agree! I wondered if anyone used it at weddings, and sure enough...

Oh, that's very unfair - Marc may be a bit sentimental, but at least he doesn't sound as if he's passing a stool...

I too had this song played as our "couple song" at my wedding reception this past May. I heard it at a friend's wedding in 1995, and decided on the spot that when I got married myself, I wanted this as my wedding song. (Luckily my now-husband agreed when I test-played it for him.)

Some may think this song is schmaltzy -- not me. I think the sentiments expressed are the essence of marital commitment, hope and love. And the line at the end about waiting for your mate to join you after death... well, it brings tears to my eyes EVERY time I hear it. And I've listened to this song dozens of times!

This may not be his best tune, but Marc Cohn is seriously underrated. Don't know quite what he was thinking about here: the residuals that might come from writing a wedding reception staple?

Hey! I played this song at my wedding... :o I agree though. It's not my favorite song. But "Silver Thunderbird" didn't really seem appropriate...
