I love that Cash started doing covers of unlikely songs. It's kinda tongue-in-cheek and just plain good.He could cover Celine Dion and I'd probably love it.

I hate country music, per se, but Johnny Cash is AWESOME! Everything he did was wonderful! And I love that he did covers! He made everything his own.

i find it exceedingly hard to believe that anyone who was actually a fan of early Soundgarden (ie, anyone who actually owned a copy of Badmotorfinger, Loud Than Love, or UltramegaOK in the late 80s / early 90s) could find this cover version to be anything other than the distasteful joke that it is. but then... to each his own, i suppose.

86 this blasphemy and play the original.

Although I'm a huge fan of Soundgarden, I just got to admit it... This is even better than the exceptionally good original.

Or Joaquin Phoenix who I just heard is slated to play Johnny Cash in a movie.

this not only makes a mockery of the truly amazing, rockin' original version of the song, it detracts so much from the legacy of Cash's great earlier work.

replace this one with Soundgarden already, for the love...

Ha ha! This is awesome. Johnny Cash didnt change a whole lot with the Hurt cover, but this one is a total curve ball.

IMHO, probably the best of Cash's covers. The original is by Soundgarden, right? The lyrics are wonderful, and Cash's plaintive baritone makes them sound like his own.

I feel kind of lame re-posting someone else's comments, but I love this one so much, I couldn't help myself. Cheers to you ehunthorsha!!

He is truly a patriarchal figure in rock and roll. I didn't always feel that way about him, but I certainly remember when he had Bob Dylan and Neil Young among many others on his tv show back in the seventies. My mom couldn't stand 'them hippies' hanging out with Johnny.

Gotta give the guy credit for trying new things and keeping an open mind.... unlike a few commentators here. It is admittedly jarring to hear him sing "Personal Jesus" .... which reminds me, we haven't heard good ol' Tom Waits sing "Chocolate Jeebus" lately. Eh, Bill?

Saw Johnny on the news at Roseann's funeral. He looked worse than she did. He kinda reminds me of Keith Richards. Dead, but still going. :D
