My top 5 Zep songs?... it's impossble to rank them. Today I'd agree with the list below, tonight it'd be 5 different songs. It's like trying to rate your favorite breath of air.
My top 5 (this one is #6)
Ramble On Ten Years Gone Goin' to California That's the Way Over the Hills and Far Away (sentimental favorite) |

Amen to that, and to that also. Bent my fingers out of shape attempting the tabs in standard tuning from the LZ "Complete" sheet music (vol 1), then a guitar virtuosod of my acquaintance pointed out that it's tuned to open C, Bah! Learned many new chords on the way though, v similar to classic Genesis harmonic flavourings. Could also follow a certain J.Buckley tune to triangulate the circle (the song remains...Bill?) As fer No Quarter I'm attempting to medley that with PF's Echoes, mixing n mashing verses and Monster Riffs along the whheee, they're both based around C#m/Emaj, y'see; gonna see if I can slip a little ND's Things Behind the Sun in there to for similar raisons d'etre. Sumfink to do innit (Hongu). Shame NQ was so bent out of shape on the Plant Page 95 tour, that show was mostly, if not an improvement then certainly a progression. Two orchestras and an arabic percussion section, marvellous. If you love the Rain Song but haven't seen the vid from the 1973/6 movie check it out if you can. Amanita Muscaria in the woods and riding a white horse through the breakers, seems like an interesting day out. Cosmic, baby, baby. Must fly√ |

Every LZ album is a killer, but this has always been my favorite because of what I had going on that year, and I saw the tour, etc. This one is my favorite from this LP. |

I hope so. So much unsaid. So much speculation on my part. |

Kind of interesting to see this credited to Page/Plant, when there is so much John Paul Jones in the mix. The orchestration should have been worth a couple of points. I know how the songwriter "formula" (for lack of a better word) goes, but without that contribution from Jones, this song would not have the same impact.
Just sayin'...

Bad day. roof is leaking and recently-finished (carpeted) basement flooded. Then "The rain Song" comes on and, despite the irony, it's like a breath of fresh air.
