And don't forget they released I and II in 1969. Three great albums in two years.

The problem with these guys is they always played nothing but - as my parents generation put it "that earsplitting, caterwauling, loud, indicipherable rock and roll crap." {#Smile}

Sublime tune.

Always liked this song and the album has other fine ones on it.  Someone said there's a mandolin on this one but I sure don't hear it.

Betting they'll never show up in Nevada at all, unless it's Vegas.  Still - I just love this song.  Always have - some of my best writing has come from this song, and this album.  Solid 10.

Very interesting mix. Mandolin on the right but not too far away. Electric guitar pretty isolated on the left. Stereo effects on vocals give space and spread the sound stage at times. Just a clean spaciuos sound. I love it.

I would like to take a moment to thank the cosmos for Led Zeppelin. As I was driving to high school in the 1970's, this is what was playing on my car radio. (Well, some crapola like Horse With No Name and American Pie, too, but nothing's perfect.) I shiver to think what's on the car radios / iPods / whatever music devices of today's high school kids. Not to sound too much like a cranky old broad in her 50's, but music was just better back then.

American Pie is still one of the greatest rock-era songs. No shame in that. (And, hey, Horse With No Name isn't so bad. At least it wasn't Muskrat Love. :) )

I smile because I was there. Great music made (and packaged) by stoners for stoners. LZ III is their most inventive album IMHO.

My favorite Zep album. A lot more acoustically melodious tunes and the trippy album cover was fun to play with. There were holes cut out and as you spun the inner cover wheel, pretty psychedelic images would come into view! Sweeeet!!!{#Sunny}

Maybe the music from "back then" is better to you because you were a high-school kid when you first heard it.  What you're saying is pretty much the same sentiment that many people who were born in the 1930's and 40's said about the music of the 1960's and 70's.
