Might be worth bearing in mind that Rushdie wrote almost all of the lyrics for that U2 song, and they appear in the book; U2 fiddled with them a little |

All that's missing is Mr. Knopfler playing with his mighty Wurlitzer? |

So true. The song is an homage to Thomas Pynchon's novel "Mason & Dixon," and in my experience such song-to-book references never work. U2's execrable "The Ground Beneath Her Feet" and Ellis Paul's "The Ballad of Chris McCandless" being other cases in point.
Re: book homages, try Rheostatics' entire album "Whale Music", a veritable symphony to Canadian author Paul Quarrington's novel of the same name. Nobody does it better. And, for a one-off song, "Don't Stand So Close to Me" may not have the lyrical beauty of Nabokov, but it does rock my a$$.

Rogers/Parton? :???: Rogers/Parton? :???: Rogers/Parton? :???: Oh come the hell off it and think of a better comparison, one that you might hear on RP...hey wait, that stands for....Rogers/Parton? As Emily Latella would say..."Nevermind." |

Mmmm... I've been listening to RP for about 6 months and this is the first time I've heard this one. Exquisite vocals and equally exquisite guitar. It's a winner! |

Excellent tune, but I'm hearing it a little too often here. Maybe time to expand the playlist a bit?
