Utterly convincing artist, giving his heart and soul on stage. I think he's one of the best.

I agree with you Beastie - to all the DMB haters out there... take a second and really listen to the words in this song and maybe you will begin to understand why there are people that really love him. Then take a chance and see them live, you might just change your opinion!

In general, I like most stuff from DMB, but based on this song, I think if you were to look up caterwauling in the dictionary, you'd see ol' Dave's picture right there next to it.

Gotta say, though, that the majority of the instrumental parts in this are well-played.

LOL!!:

I think if you were to look up caterwauling in the dictionary, you'd see ol' Dave's picture.

Gotta agree. Think I'll take this opportunity to go "enjoy" a chat with my boss. :-)

A good example of why live music should only be heard live.

Every Dave Matthews tune I've heard has the same groove: blasty-jammy-impress-your-friends-overthetop-trytoohard. His young fans obviously love him, seeing how they've never heard Mahavishnu or EARLY Santana

Actually John McLAughlin is one of my favourite artists. DMB bot too large in that their fame exploded to big for their musical style. I have seen them in a 1500 ampitheatre and ina 80K stadium. Much more suited to small arenas and this jamming styole rather than the top 40 radio that sadly the frat brothers have brought it to. The DMB prior to 95 is amazing shite. Once the frat boys got a hold of it its gone down hill, such a shame.

I knew that if this thing went on long enough, that little rubber-band guitar would show up.

ok...this has been going on for a bit too long...it's just too much. I love this sort of thing in a live setting, but it's not radio material. In my humble opinion

Anyone notice that his voice is not just bad, but without personality?

I mean Dylan doesn't have a coloratura voice, but it does have weight.

DM's voice is bad, and forgettable. :puke:

Given the choice of listening to the Bay City Rollers or DMB - I would take the first in an instant every time. Listening to them would make me grin and possibly laugh, listening to DMB just pisses me off.

I like the jazzy sound of this one, but ultimately, I know it's going to end up making me feel like I do about most DMB songs: they have just 2 or 3 musicians too many. I want to like these guys, and feel like it's the type of music I should like but end up feeling like I'm stuck in a musical high-congestion freeway.

This song and artist have certainly grown on me, quite a bit.

Complex but still catchy and accessible. When you get into it, the song isn't "too long" IMO, though that probably has been a lot easier for those who were present at the concert

Unlike most popmusic it's got lots of dynamics.

Have never been able to get into DMB, and this song doesn't help. I know lots of people love this band, but I've tried and just can't get over the hump. All of his songs sound similar to me, with a sort of herky-jerky quality to the music and uninspiring lyrics.

Boy, am I glad it's not just me. You couldn't have put it better.
I bought 'Crash' when it came out and for the life of me, still cannot understand it's appeal. I played it over and over but I just didn't get it (and still don't).
