I think I would like to wait a long time before hearing that track again.

I love tori. I hate this. :headshake:
I can't really explain why, since I don't know much about this band, but I feel about her voice the way many people feel about Tori's.
That must mean that their voices have very different qualities (at least to my ears!)

Hmm, I really do like this song. I might have to check out some of Rhine's other albums. I picked up Over the Rhine's latest album 'Ohio' when it was selected as 'Album of the Year of 2003' in Paste Magazine. What a talent! I love discovering 'new' artists. Kudos!

Picked that one up after hearing them here on RP for the first time. Very much worth having.

What, this isn't Tori Amos?
Coulda fooled me.

Why not just say that Tori sounds like Karen? Over The Rhine was around before Tori Amos was after all.

Maybe you should try drinking less so you can enjoy good music...

My first time hearing this too -- hmm, mixed feelings about it. I'd have to hear it a few times more to be able to land firmly on the Like It or Don't Like It side.

Say, does anyone else think the lead vocal sounds a lot like Eliza Gilkyson? Again, both a good and a bad thing... a beautiful voice that chooses/performs bad material.

i thought this was a nice, trance-like song, a tad bit repetitive though....nice beat, good strong vocals.
another find by RP
thanks

Ditto previous comments re Tori, Sara, etc. If you want an original voice - with both passion and a razor-sharp edge - search out Carina Round. You could start here Carina Round homepage ;)

Try the Cincinnati component. Germany... Cincinnati... who could tell the difference? :p

This is indeed the first song I've ever muted on RP.

Sounds like Tori Amos doing a really bad James Bond theme.

"The Wooorrlld can wait" Staring Pierce Brosnan comming to theatre's everywhere November 24th.

Very pretty and interesting. My favorite albums of theirs however are "Eve", "Patience" (not available anymore except on http://www.overtherhine.com since their old label IRS went belly up), and "Good Dog Bad Dog". A little bit too polished here compared to their last few albums. Still good though. :)

Obviously, the German component of the Sara McLachlan/Tori Amos axis.

That's not good, by the way.

not a bad song at all, until she starts in with the yodeling. then the mute button is a necessity.

I posted a comment here last July indicating my distaste for this. Too bad the edit feature wasn't available then. I now think this and everything else played on RP by them is fantastic :). Had no idea I was so fickle. Who knows. Maybe next year I will be liking that "down-tempo" "music" that Platypus is fond of. nah!

Over the Rhine is one of the best (unheardof) groups out there. Some people seem to think that their lyrics are stupid, but I tend to think the opposite. Anyone who has ever really listened to a lot of their music knows that they are masters of intelligent, poetic melodies. And no, she doesn't sound like Tori Amos...
