ode to an arsonist...great song. I think the band name comes from when Oral Roberts or some similar evangelist claimed to have seen a 900 foot Jesus during a vision.

//from wiki

In 1980, Roberts said he had a vision of a 900-foot-tall Jesus who encouraged him to continue the construction of his City of Faith Medical and Research Center, which opened in 1981. At the time, it was the largest health facility of its kind in the world and sought to merge prayer and medicine in the healing process. The City of Faith was in operation for only eight years before closing in late 1989. The Orthopedic Hospital of Oklahoma still operates on its premises. The height of each of the buildings, which are now mostly business offices, were built according to the measurements of Noah's ark as described in the Bible.

Interesting lyrics and sung in a Dylanesque or Josh Ritteresque manner...it would be pure genius. However, rapped, disgusting. Spare me the repition and everything that is (c)rap music. One for being lazy.

This should get high ratings simply for the name of the artist.

You have a phenomenally narrow idea of what poetry and music are or can be. I feel sorry for you.

I don't even really like rap, but I love the poetry of some of it.

That's not quite in Dayton. I think it is close to Hamilton or Middletown. I know you can see it from 71. Any Dayton or Cincy area posters correct me if I'm wrong.

It's amazing how quick you people are you use the word "hate". English isn't my first language, but from what I understand, "hate" is a fairly strong, specific word, used to denote an equally strong, specific emotion.

I simply can't imagine "hating" a song. What did the song do to you? Did it rape your mother and kill your father? Was it responsible for the collapse of an orphanage?

It is music. Relax.

One of the best comments I've ever read on RP!

Definitely one of the early 90s artists who got over looked.

Personally, I got in trouble by the school for teaching this song. Was told it inspired arson and would make kids go out and burn stuff. Oh well, can always resort to blaming rock and roll.

Still on of my favorites.

Apparently he's retired and now flies glider planes - how cool.

It's too bad he's not making music anymore since he was quite talented.

This stands out in my memories of exploring music in a cruddy little music store in Lawrence, KS when I was in college. It shares a mental space with a collection of other songs in search of an audience...obviously it isn't finding one here.

I remember it offended me at the time, but then I listened, really listened to the story, the attitude, the feeling the guy "spoke" into it. And for a second I could see his pleasure from the fires. I could smell the gasoline...the smoke.

I'm not advocating it, but I'm not advocating the behaviors out of any music. I'm using it as a transport, to see through someone else's eyes for a moment. To shift my perspective.

It's a pity more don't see it as that chance to shift your own thinking...looks like a few of you could use it.

Rap? This one? Um, not by my book. I really dig this song, p.s. 7. But there is a ton of excellent rap and hiphop out there which does not get any play here. I'm sure it might get flamed, but not by me. Maybe one good hip hop tune for every twenty alt-country? That would work for me.

I will agree with a guy in a tux pulling out a can of malt liquor is very off putting. I mean if you are wearing a tux you can afford the 40oz bottle. (or 36oz if you live in Florida where they do not sell 40s)
