Fred - I'm going to steal your "acme of cool" phrase - love it.

As a ridiculously devoted Bowie fan for 37 years, I can confirm that easily understood lyrics were never among DBs attributes.

Have you heard his last album.....Reality I think was the name.   Lots of good stuff there.

Possibly the last good song of Bowie.

You're poppin' now, Bill!  Nice mix. You went from funk to funky, baby. :P

Anyone else find the phrase after "ashes to ashes," __________  a bit, shall we say androgynous? meaning it can sound like things other than the offical "funk to funky." ??

I always think of this as the first music video I ever saw. It predates MTV. Bizarre? perhaps. Striking for back the? Absolutely.

Ahhh the 80's. Man I love this song. Reminds me of my '73 Dart and a girl I was dating then. She turned out to be a class 'A' bitch. Still love the song though.

Oh, the JOYS of hearing this after not hearing it for awhile...all the funky slap-bass, whispering, reverb, allusions...I always hit an all-time high when he croons "Hitting an all-time LOW..." and wow, how perky, how jaunty, how spectacularly disjointed yet delightfully symphonic this whole glorious sound collage is!  LOVE IT!  Maybe my favorite DB song!

This is an OK Bowie song that is not in the same territory as some of his other stuff.  Definitely not worth an average of 8.1.

That's a pretty ignorant statement. The 8.1 Average is exactly where it is supposed to be. I for one think that this is one of his best songs and gave it a rating of 10. Considering it has almost 1200 ratings, more people like if than dislike it.

Time to be flexible: normally I cannot stand Bowie. Seems all style and no content to me. And his style has not aged well, in my opinion, either. But - this is a great song.

Thanks for playing, Bill. It would be great also if some time you played Bowie's "Life on Mars" as well — that would fulfill my quota of songs that I now enjoy thanks to BBC programmes for the day. ;)
