I was a BIG Fleetwood Mac with the release of their very fist LP,"English Rose" ( with a lovely closeup of Mick Fleetwood in drag on the cover)... If anyone has that album, PLEASE upload "Black Magic Woman" (the original version of Santana's hit, written by the great Peter Green). Fleetwood Mac's version is inspired and wonderfully raw.

It took me a long time to get to like this song. At the beginning, the vocals are mixed WAY too low, in my opinion, kind of like a bass and drum track with some mumbling in there. It gets much better as it goes along.

Go Cats! Well, in basketball anyway...USC kinda has the football thing locked down right now.
Not sure about the "dirty laundry" angle others bring up...I just treat it like the fun ditty that it is, and leave it there. And bonus point for any Lindsey Buckingham-sung tune. |

Well, I don't think that is this one. I thought it made Rumours rather interesting. |

Fortunately, I don't feel that way about it anymore.
You're lucky you only made that trip once. I've done it 4 times. This song is now permanently unlistenable for me. |

Had a lot of people scratching their head - while tapping their toes - as this rose the charts to become a hit in the autumn of 1979.
I think it is remarkable that there is brilliant music from just about every incarnation of the Mac - well maybe not the Billy Burnette era. If you ever get the chance, listen to the 1970 Boston Tea Party recordings with Peter Green, Kirwan, Spencer, Fleetwood and Mac at their most incredibly explosive. It is truly revelatory.
I agree. Artists often are criticized for being too commercial, but after putting out Fleetwood Mac and Rumours, FM follows up with this "ambitious" work. That takes a certain amount of conviction. I also agree that all of the incarnations of FM had something different, and worthwhile, to offer. |

I always snicker when high-school marching bands play this or Prince's Little Red Corvette. Don't those band directors know anything about euphemisms? Heeheee

But you still have to hate the USC marching band - all time most annoying college band - and I've heard plenty, thank you. They break into their fight song to celebrate a three yard gain in their own territory on first down.
But this is supposed to be about the music, so I'll stop my USC hatin' rant now. |

I get cranky when people pick on the Buckingham/Nicks era of Fleetwood Mac. Granted, the direction changed and the bluesy music took a step to the back (but that was the beauty of Christine McVie songs,) but Lindsey and Stevie are talented people. There is not a thing wrong with a great pop record. :P |

Have always been inordinately fond of this, catchy and breezy and yet somehow inexorable and overwhelming, like offensive positions being over run by dancing mummers, or a storm at high tide.

I remember when this came out I didn't really get it; now I really like it. I agree that Fleetwood Mac's best stuff was way before Rumours -- "Mystery to Me," "Bare Trees," "Heroes are Hard to Find," etc. But this song is fun. Check out the album "Buckingham Nicks," released before they joined the band, for a real treat.
