It's not supposed to...

It's a parody.

A cool take on an otherwise sucky song. This is the way it was meant to be!

Three cheap, but nonetheless entertaining covers in a row? Hmm, is there a purpose behind that?

hahaha. doesn't hold a candle to the original, but a clever reminder not to take ourselves too seriously.

so "Euelogy", you essentially have a "sense of humor" - but you don't like parodies? is it parodies in conjunction with music? or just, generally, "humor" with music that doesn't work for you?

Besides, I wouldn't be so sure the point of this is "humor". I am sure it can bring a smile, but what makes it "funny"?

all we are saying, is give music a chance.... w/apologies to groucho lennon. ;)

This is soooo cool. Betcha Mark Knopfler loves it. Big Daddy sure brings home the Dire Straits' lyric. Well done.

This just plain sucks. I could not hate this more than Gypsy222 hates it, but I'll try.

You talkin' about the similarity between the clarinet line in this version and "Sold my Soul to the company store" line from Tennessee Ernie?

I really heard it in this version. Never noticed it in the original.

Can someone help Mr. Grumpy out here? Think he left his sense of humor somewhere....

I used to see Big Daddy in person in Santa Monica prior to the band breaking up. They were much more fun in person than their recording makes them out to be. Thanks for the flashback!

The cover--the sendup . . . better than the original in many ways. I would like to get it too!

OH MAN!
This brought back LOTS of memories, back from when KFOG used to play Dr. Demento...

I've been looking for this CD for ages. Where the heck can I find it?

Heh, this made me smile while deeply bored at work.

Think I need to find me a .mp3 of this, it would probably get annoying after a while but I know a few people that'd get a giggle out of it.

I want my. I want my. I want my. I want my mp3.

Now, after listening to 16 Tons collide with Money For Nothing, imagine The Theme From Gilligan's Island mashed into Amazing Grace.
I wonder what long-term damage this stuff does to your head?

These guys did an entire 50's cover album of Sgt. Pepper's... "Day in the Life" like Buddy Holly, "Lucy in the Sky" like Jerry Lee Lewis, etc.

Very cool.

I whole-heartedly agree...

Reminds me of Tom Jones covering Prince's "Kiss."

heheheh. Most excellent novelty cover, and appropriately coming after a Straits song. Nice set.
