The one time I saw them live they stunk, although I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt (since their album music is so entertaining) and assume the sound guy they had at the venue stunk. I was really looking forward to that concert, too... at least they played this song.

Oh, lighten up. This is a very fun song from one of the funnest albums in existence by one of the funnest rock bands around. |

A song made very popular by the Tiny Toons, in need of far more air time.

it's not a remake or a parody. the original was written in the late fourties by Jimmy Kennedy & Nat Simon, and became a popular novelty song in 1954. i really don't think Kennedy or Simon were thinking conciously of "Puttin' on the Ritz," which was written by Irving Berlin for a Fred Astair movie, and wasn't really a popular hit until Taco remade it in the 80's.
I'm surprised Gene Wilder & Peter Boyle's version of "Puttin' on the Ritz" from Young Frankenstein didn't make it into the Billboard Top 40.

Pretty much everything by TMBG is awesome. Does anybody remember the Animaniacs cartoon skit that went along with this song? Good times. :)

This helps with the withdrawal symptoms from not having heard "Common People" by William Shatner for 24 hours! What a brilliant track and a great band!
