I defy anyone to visit Istanbul without this song getting stuck in their head beforehand. I just came back — great city, great song.

I've had the worst week of my life today, and this stupid video made me feel like life is worth living again.  I really need to invest in all manner of They Might Be Giants. And Craig Ferguson.

And some of my uploads were rejected???! - yes I know you say be surprised, well yep, you got that right...{#Headache}

Perhaps your "realms of eclectic" are regimented exclusively to "serious" music.  Since when is humor in music a bad thing?  These guys are great.

Has anyone seen the Craig Ferguson YouTube version of this? I tried to embed it here, but it won't show up... It was the first time I ever heard "Istanbul" by TMBG - LOVE the song.

I love this song. I know my mother loved it when I was a kid. I see from Wikipedia that it was first released in 1953. I think it's lots of fun, and They must be Giants are wonderful and imaginative.

An oft quoted song. I have frequently referred to this song in company who have no idea what I am talking about.

Lyrics by Jimmy Kennedy and music by Nat Simon. Circa 1950. TMBG's wit is peerless, but this is an example of great performance and production, not songwriting from the two Johns.
