27 Eagles songs in the RP catalog, but this is the only one I've ever particularly noticed being played.

Back when they were GOOD! (Henley hadn't completely jacked the band, Bernie was still with 'em...) |

Before I heard it here, I'd have sworn this was written as the theme music to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I always thought it went well with the series. |

Had NO idea this was the Eagles. Always assumed it was a hired piece for the Hitchhiker's theme. We are indeed a jazz odyssey. |

Parts of it sound like the eagles were trying to write the score for a Jet Li film. I don't really get it.

It's sort of country rock's answer to that scene in Spinal Tap: "We are Jazz Odyssey. I hope you like our new direction!"

Wow. Takes me back to sitting around the shack with my pal Woody, world's biggest Eagles fan, "relaxing" after a day working construction.

That's the only reason I like it. And the BBC series was soooo much better than the Hollywood movie (and I'm sure was a small fraction of the cost). |

And you must admit this is a weird spin for the Eagles Man I am so glad you wrote that. I haven't heard that theme song in years and years. I was trying to figure out if it was the theme to Red Dwarf or something when I looked and saw it was the Eagles. There was a brief but intense mind fsck until I read your post. |

Unbelievable!...I actually read the playlist wrong and thought for a moment, "Wow Doc Watson sure mixes well with prog rock". Very interesting...just when I thought I knew the Eagles. At least Joe Walsh ain't singin...

I keep expecting the tune to fade out and Peter Jones voice to come in. There's a BBC site devoted to the Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, though no episodes available sadly. As for the Eagles - ptui! This is probably their best number for me as it doesn't have any singing. |

Had a nice e-mail from Bernie a couple of years ago after I notified him about trying to track down a copy of an LP on which he played as a part of the gospel-group, Ever Call Ready. I used to play it a lot on WLJN (Traverse City, MI) during a Sunday night slot as a volunteer DJ/station operator. Perhaps becoming a born-again (like Chris Hillman and Al Perkins) was a bit of a conflict with the Eagles' way of life? |

Bernie Leadon - the Eagles were never the same after he left. This song is a sample of his musical genius. Forgot what a great track this is. Actually, I think the last time I heard this was on my Quadraphonic 8 Track car Stereo, back in the day! Almost embarrassed to admit that! :-)

How could I have possibly failed to know the origin of this song? I am a HUGE fan of the BBC Radio version of HHGTTG. Excellent!
