Hi, Thanx U Calypsus for writting all "King of Mambo" lyrics. I never had all the real words written about it in french, indeed... anyway if you want to know about "la Mano Negra" Manu's before band, you can ask me.. More alternatif and political positive way, it's finely OK for ...
PS : the last time I've eaten witch Manu and all the band, that was in Valence- Drome- 26000 - France and not in Spain !!! C'est tout pour aujourd'hui... Grandkrock..

While the song wasn't terribly inspiring...it did make me click the page to see if he was in fact saying "King of the bongload". ...which he wasn't, regrettably. ...right, wrong, or indifferent...that would have been more amusing at the very least.

Mama was queen of the mambo Papa was king of the Congo Deep down in the jungle I started bangin' my first bongo Every monkey'd like to be In my place instead of me Cause I'm the king of bongo, baby I'm the king of bongo bong I went to the big town Where there is a lot of sound From the jungle to the city Looking for a bigger crown So I play my boogie For the people of big city But they don't go crazy When I'm bangin' in my boogie I'm the "king of the bongo, king of the bongo bong" Hear me when I come King of the bongo, king of the bongo bong They say that I'm a clown Making too much dirty sound They say there is no place for little monkey in this town Nobody'd like to be in my place instead of me Cause nobody go crazy when I'm bangin' on my boogie I'm the king of the bongo, king of the bongo bong Hear me when I come "King of the bongo, king of the bongo bong" Bangin' on my bongo all that swing belongs to me I'm so happy there's nobody in my place instead of me I'm a king without a crown hanging loose in a big town But I'm the king of bongo baby I'm the king of bongo bong King of the bongo, king of the bongo bong Hear me when I come, baby, king of the bongo, king of the bongo bong

What happened to people taking personal responsibility for the way they are feeling...
Look you create your world! SO IF IT SUCKS TO YOU - CHANGE THE CHANNEL!
I always preface my own mindset/feelings when I say I am not happy with some song or other, but I know it's me not the music.
Someone somewhere out there will love something - I personally LOVE Manu Chau - but I lived in Europe and had many good times with it in the background. I personally love the variety and styles of music played here and am not always in the mood for every song they play when they play it - but it's ME that's the constant not the Music because as you see around you - others Love the same song you are dissing. So get over yourselves. 1.) This isn't your personal radio station - this is Bill and Rebecca's 2.) If you don't like most of what they play - GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! 3.) If you are super unhappy about life - see someone else, go for a walk in nature, do something to try and change it.

Shouldn't a song that carries on about being the "King of the Bongos" include some bongo playing?

The only good thing about this track was the moment of pondering "1, or 2. Hm. 2, or 1. Hm. What the heck, I'm in a good mood, let's go with 2." |

Thanks Bill. My kids love this song. We know the song from a Putamayo disc from a couple years back called "World Playground".

Just when I thought my day couldn't possibly get worse, a new form of physical pain was added to the collection by having to listen to this song at work. It always makes me feel suicidal. Thanks, Bill. |

That gets really old after the first verse. Blah. Volume control to the rescue.

It's like playing "Summer's Cauldron" without playing "Grass" afterwards.
Right and I uploaded it a few days ago... |

And I had to buy more CDs to give away as gifts. ... You are one damned adventerous soul. I'll bet you dress crazy too. |

All the people complaining are just jealous because they're not snappy dressers like Manu Chao.
I really dig this song. When I first heard it, I ran out and bought the CD. Does not disappoint, nor does anything else Chao does.
But not definitely not music for everyone. |

This sounds like a really unflattering, stereotypical and politically incorrect parody of Latin music. Since Manu Chao did it, it gets a pass, I suppose.

The songs frequently sounded like they were composed by whiskey addled chimpanzees and were named accordingly, usually something along the lines of "Zingo Banjo", or "Mungo Joingo". This song wouldn't even have made it into the contest, nuff said.
My favorite was the German entry, translated as "Peace for the Teddy Bears". Oh good lord. |
