This bit has become a family tradition - usually played while everyone is cooking in preparation for the big dinner. My (now ex) mother in law used to fire up the LP once a year just to play this bit.
For all the haters - this is about as good a slice of musical americana that the USA has. We don't have many 'traditions' that aren't some idjits commercial creation. Allow us our small victories.

Ther are some hour plus versions about. Arlo did one for WMMR in Philly back around 69. The infamous multi colored rainbow roach affair. A story about a missle defense carpet suspended in the sky. The skyward side looked just like the earth below to fool the enemy. So if they fired missiles at us they would land hamlessly in the carpet which would then be rolled up and tossed or smoked depending on the verse...
