"I Have the Touch" - he certainly did, saw him on the US tour 1991, one of the most emotionally charged shows I've ever taken in. The way he did 'San Jacinto', on a "raft" on a slow moving belt thing from the one stage over to the other stage was really cool. Loved the big red British Phone Booth and phone-on-a-rope on "Talk to Me" too. For "Digging" he had a mini cam strapped on his head and several big screens overhead, it was really weird and tied in well with the theme of being willing to deal with the roots of your own inner crap.

I think this is one of the best Gabriel's songs ever! I like the groove, I love the aggressive refrains...

Hey look it's a Peter Gabriel thread did anyone mention how much they hate "Sledgehammer" because they used to hear it on the radio a lot yet?

Did anyone argue about their opinions on music as if there was a right or wrong, or act like they might convince someone else to change their taste in music because of something written by some random stranger on a interweb message board?

Ok. Just checking.

10.

my mistake. never make assumptions, I guess, no matter what the comment is or where it sounds like it's coming from. guess I shoulda just left up the previous vitriolic post (if that's what you preferred). last time I ever edit a post in the interest of "being nice."
Ironically enough, I mistook your gender, but you seemed to read into this Gabriel song that it's about a woman being kidnapped, yet nowhere in the lyrics, (at least last time I heard it anyway) does it make reference to the gender of the so-called victim.

(I deleted my previous post towards this soccer mom as it was a tad harsh.) Ma'am, this song is about psychotherapy and not about a kidnapping. Please learn to read between the lines or in this case, just have a little bit of freakin' insight into songs, as many song lyrics are metaphorical.

Taking his metaphors too literally?

Don't talk back
Just drive the car
Shut your mouth
I know what you are
Don't say nothing
Keep your hands on the wheel
Don't turn around
This is for real

Now, I have a 12 year old daughter. If you had a 12 year old daughter and this song was (hypothetically) getting a lot of airplay, would you want her listening to it several times a day while she did her homework in her room? It's not that I'm in favor of censorship. I emphatically am not. But I did want to point out that the lyrics to this song, while maybe referring to feelings PG was wrestling with but not indulging, are a fairly graphic depiction of a violent kidnapping by a misogynist lunatic. I find that "creepy."

Dood... you don't have any "10s" from the past 3 decades!

Well, it appears the majority disagree with you anyway.

This song is about going through therapy... "digging in the dirt" is digging in your OWN dirt. This is an "8" for me.
