Even the shorter remix is great. Not a song for the 3 min. mtv crowd :)
Fearless on the flipside of the L.P. is my favorite Floyd tune.
Thanks for giving it a spin!

Another dinosaur shocker this one…and how come it’s in the 8’s here?…Are you all acid freaks that have lost it?

Excellent tune! One of PF's best. It's only a shame that it's a remix and not the full-length version. :P

Had it been the full-length one, it would have deserved a 10!

Now let's hear Atom Heart Mother (suite).

Cheers

All right, now I'm PISSED. For those into Pink Floyd ROIO's(bootlegs), the live versions often hit 30min long. I prefer the longer versions. Long songs don't bother me. Especially "Echoes".

I agree with you. Since when are Pink Floyd songs not long enough even when they're not a remix?

I'm not sure why I think so exactly, but the "ramp up" out of the middle part of this song is the best. I can't say anything else about it.

I remember going to the Santa Monica Civic to see PF right after Meddle came out ('71?). They got 3/4 of the way through Echoes when the "echo" broke. Instead of the nice sonar ping, all you heard was a plink on the Rhodes (?) piano.

I'm not sure how many in the audience even noticed, but Roger did and waved for the band to stop. After ten minutes or so of roadies crawling around checking cables, the band started up again. At the beginning!

So for those of you who find the short remix too long, I have rather fond (if hazy) memories of about 45 minutes or so of Echoes, live. Wonderful.

As an avid listener of RP, I'm surprised that this is the first time I've heard this track in, ahem, a couple of decades.
Wow, the memories.
On the Roger Waters thread, I personally recognize him as one of the most prolific artists of my generation in any medium.
If all the amazing PF records are not enough, check out "Amused to Death" which came out around 1991 and featured Jeff Beck, Jeff Picaro, Don Henley and, of all people, Rita Coolidge.

Try the OLD Radiohead...this is my dad's music, passed down to me! But, credit to your observation, RP played Karma Police (real Radiohead song) after it!! Epic music at it's best...

Pink Floyd is the opiate of the pseudo-intellectual.
