With the possible exception of "St. Stephan" from Live Dead,
"Echoes", original OR remix, is the greatest album-side length piece in rock history. Loved it then' love it now, and love heeb's little emoticon chorus line ! |

The difference is 6 1/2 minutes. The original Echoes is 23:27 while the remix is 16:30.
The problem is that this remix is now too short to function as an alternate soundtrack to the "Stargate" sequence from 2001: A Space Odyssey, like it's supposed to. Instructions here. |

Thank you Radio Paradise; you made my day.
I beg to differ on the Waters comment. Although I agree with your statement regarding the direction in the "Tortured Childhood Act" I really don't think that came into play until "The Wall", and of course, the final *real* Floyd album "The Final Cut". Alhtough Waters did progressively take more and more control over Floyd as time went on one cannnot group Animals and Wish You Were Here with the aforementioned albums. |

Have to post again, because the windup is so exciting. Yes, I could listen to another 6.5 minutes of this. But you did a fantastic segue into Delirium by Daylight, which seems a great followup. I have to echo TreborG2: " . . . because I haven't found anything else out there that is as diverse, or is as wonderfully listenable to, as Radio Paradise is.--
If nothing else, Bill should be a billionare for being able to program such different pieces of music together and have literally thousands of people who really *WANT* to listen this station and are very thankful for him and his work.--
and I try to thank Bill, Rebecca, and Radio Paradise in just about every post..."
Also, I want to thank the other listeners who posted so much knowledgeable info on Pink Floyd and its albums! Dear fellow listeners trancefussion, pcurtner, darklyng, and radiofreephoenix, you are teaching me so much, and I have never met you!! You are a coterie of great rock-music tutors for me! I also agree with whoever said thanks for the cleanness of the track.
Sorry for those who don't like this type of music, but I am hereby requesting the long version to be played sometime.

Its one of those tunes that you sort of want to listen to in a "special" mood. Not sure I'd want to see it on heavy rotation in the playlist...
Brings back fond, fuzzy memories!

I'm normally pretty burned out on Pink Floyd, having worn out the grooves on most of those old records -- probably just grew out of some of the teenage angst on stuff like The Wall. But this one track still hits me though, great music! Can't remember exactly how this remix differs from the original, but it works! :)

Echoes - One of the better Pink Floyd tracks from the early "Meddle" album. I first had this copied as a cassette from a friend in the 70's, then for better sound quality bought and then wore out the album. I replaced that recently with a new "Meddle" CD purchase... after hearing this clean track on Radio Paradise, see how Internet Radio works? |

Huzzahhh!!!!! this just made my day!
Remember in the mid seventies, my aunt gave me this album...
One day after smokin' too much hash, threw this on the headphones- got way TOO deep into the music and wound up becoming SO disoriented I wound up puking off the front porch!
Still one of my FAVORITE Floyd tunes!!!!
However, glad that i'm sober now, so i can listen to this without barfing on my front lawn
