They started out as what was then known as "alternative rock." Well, guess what? As time wore on, a band that is good -- and they were good -- gets popular. And other bands copy their sound. No surprise there. Some people can't deal with that. Hence, the snubs.

Most people rate this song as outstanding or godlike...i would hardly call that vehemently turned on- I do think there are a lot of music snobs on RP who like to bash popular music though.

Yep, on the Cry Cry Cry cd, with Dar Williams and Richard Shindell. Very nice version, but this is hard to beat!
