This sounds a LOT like Sheila Nicholls. Too bad she doesn't get played on RP.

exactly right. it was sampled on de la soul's "transmitting live from mars" as well.

the song is enjoyable, but beat jacking is beat jacking. what's the point of reusing a sample someone else made famous, especially when it's just looped?

That's exactly what I thought it was when it started. It was a remake done by the Lightening Seeds for Austin Powers, but I don't know the name of the song either.

Yeah that's what I could say when I hear the same four chords in every pop and rock song with the same cliches for lyrics and the same BPMs. The music being sampled doesn't make it un-original. It's what you do with it. I'm not trying to make enemies here but you must not know much about music because that kind of statement seems really ignorant to me, a musician.

I'm afraid that I don't know the original source of that sample but I can tell you that 3 Feet High and Rising also used it...groovy, or should I say daisy age?!?

Downtempo/Trip-Hop/whatever is as close as I get to liking electronica-type music, and even then I still don't like most downtempo artists or so-called songs they put out. I will, however, make an exception for SBL, and this is one of the finest I've heard yet. Sweet. Maybe some Fila Brazillia is on the RP playlist? Oh, and I hate to pedal your competition here, but I have to give a hats off to the folks at monkeyradio.org for exposing me to electronica that I actually find tolerable in general, and occasionally even likeable.
