Abbey Road was the first "album" I ever owned. (Got the tape of it with a cassette player one Christmas, when I was in about the 6th grade.) I wore that damn tape out. Even then I could recognize that the Beatles were doing things other artists of the day were only dreaming about. Nowadays, I see that theory has held its own over time. And to think they did it with what would today be considered primitive equipment.

This particular medley is among the best of the best from some of the best artists. Ever.

"nuff", i get it. as for overrated, your right. they should be exempt of and ratings. lets just put the beatles in godlike status above any.

the beatles have almost single handedly given us the music of today. study your music history. oh yeah, thoes same music history buffs do not mention anything about bob dylan. because he sucks!

"You know with these new fangled CD's, the sound is so clear and the words are easy to understand. 'Got me re-thinking that whole Helter-skelter thing".

Nothing against classical music, god bless it, but this is a forum for rock music. But I wonder what a composition by Lennon/Brahms or McCartney/Tchaikowski would sound like?...

This was the first rock and roll I ever heard in my life. When I was 5, we had a 45 of "Here Comes The Sun" and "Because" on one side, and this on the other. It lay dormant in my brain until sophomore year of high school, when someone was playing Abbey Road and I recognized it. Abbey Road is my favorite Beatles album by far.

Yes, I'm saying Paul and John were composers of that caliber. Time will prove the believers right!

Oh, please, come now. The Beatles were a great pop/rock band yes, but there is a huge difference between Polythene Pam (alright, insert your favorite Beatles song) and Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, or any work by any the great composers listed above. Let's not lose our heads, ok?

Hearing this for some reason made me think of Badfinger. How about an occasional pop classic from Badfinger? I've always thought "Day After Day" was a perfect pop song.

I gave it a 10. The whole Abbey Road album gets a 10 in my opinion.

"....and in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make."

That still rings true 36 years later. Thanks, RP for taking me there, even if just for a few minutes. You'd never hear the whole end medley on corporate "classic rock" radio anymore.

I was told once that Paul McCartney is the one playing the drums here. Ringo did his part but Paul wasn't satisfied and dubbed his over.

I always thought it was fact, but I don't have anything to base that on. Anyone else ever hear this or am I blowing smoke?

It's a long time since I'd heard this and really had forgotten just how gob smacking Abbey Road was when it first came out. It's still got the power to awe.

Has to be one of the greatest pieces of modern music ever recorded. Wow. If you don't get this song, then you should stop listening to Radioparadise and go back to your Britney Spears pop radio.

Just was thumbing through the play list and was reading the comments. I felt like putting my two cents in. This was one of the greatest pieces of music of all time. I was a senior in high school when this came out and I love it as much today as I did back then. Nobody...and I do mean nobody....is better then The Beatles.
