My 25 year old daughter just got married with the entire ceremony consisting of Beatles music (I Will is a great wedding song) : half of the reception was a 3 man band and 30% of their songs were... you guessed it...I guess I raised her right

This is like a mashup of original songs. Sheer genius to do this. And all the little mini-songs are good/great. About 4 years earlier, John complained that the Beatles didn't have enough time to write songs with their busy schedules. But this proves they caught up on writing new material. And once they knew the band would soon be finished, they put this together.

punk technically lasted a year, I was there. everything "punky" that came after, Im afraid, it has missed the point.
anyway, Punk "came about" 7 years after this. a bit slow in the planning stage were you? Punk was great and lasted many years, but this is great too. Punk wasn't a reaction to the Beatles, it was a reaction to the Yes's and Pink Floyd's of the world. I thought Paul and John added excellent song bits to side 2 of Abbey Road.

A THOUSAND thanks to you for pointing that out (oddly just one single post of this on Youtube, low resolution but much better than nothing.) Gorgeous performance! While wondering if he'll know when to stop, for now, McCartney's ability to rock the house and remain a more than convincing live performer is amazing me time and again. He's certainly nothing but paying the most impressive and accurate tribute to his time and work with the Beatles. |

Since this is/was the very first real vinyl I ever owned (this and Get Yer Ya Yas Out) I have studiously avoided the Beatles for over 20 years. But, hearing this just now, and knowing every note by heart, I have to say "Wow!" This is simply amazing.
Rock on.
