I've been driving my wife and family crazy by singing this one over the last few months.

Standard complaint is, "but it isn't in a minor key!"

Enough, enough, enough!!!!! This song was good the 1st, 10th, and 50th time. But I've heard it too much and it's turning my head into mush. Enough of the minor key. Arrrghhh.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so. Whenever I hear this song I can never remember which one it is.

Perhaps ole Woody Guthrie meant it to be vague, maybe he didn't, but having Billy Bragg singing it the way he does makes for some interesting irony.

That's Okfuskee County in Oklahoma....home to Woody's hometown of Okemah. Okemah also hosts the annual Woody Guthrie Folk Festival every summer -- mid July.

RP never ceases to amaze me....I've only heard this song at the Guthrie Folk Festival. What a pleasant surprise!

If I'm not mistaken, this whole album consists of lyrics written by Woody Guthrie.... lyrics he never got around to writing music for.

You know, throwing in an original Woody Guthrie would fit right in on RP. Maybe something from the Smithsonian sessions. Woody Guthrie, the master of "unplugged" music.

I like this song... but the general tempo is slowing down! aah! Not good with 2 hours, 22 minutes (but who's counting) to go before I exit... and every minute like an hour. :oops:
