Back to the song. While I like this a lot, the Zep version had a much more ominous and foreboding feel to it that fit the subject matter. This is a bit too lighthearted, especially after recent events.
I don't agree with your claim that admiration of Canada is really disquised anti-Americanism. People who are against US policies in the world, the occupation of Iraq and support for Israel's murder of innocent Lebanese civilians being two examples, don't need to disguise their anti-Americanism. It's pretty open over here in Europe. Furthermore my opinion of Canadians comes from having lived in the USA for 37 years, much of it not too far from the Canadian border. Perhaps you're too far south? |

Appears on a Yazoo Roots of Rock CD from 2001...
Song is usuall credited as being written by Led Zeppelin's members collectively. It's in the library and I've heard it played. . . . |

Unfortunate that the album title leads the neophyte to believe that Zep actually wrote all these songs.

This one's dedicated to Massachusetts. And why not? I don't think it's inappopriate, just as I didn't think showing movies with the Twin Towers in the New York skyline was inappropriate.
