Two 'godlikes' in a row, thanks RP!
Wonderful guitar playing and vocals, quite stunning on careful listening.
The guitar stle reminds of the similarly wonderful Lindsay Buckingham.

nothing else quite like this... my 17 year old daughter and I both got into "Pink Moon" at about the same time, so there is a 'timeless' aspect to his music... really like this tune. |

So writing yesterday is the definition of fine art? I guess you are more of an optimist than I'll ever be. And I'm pretty optimistic. |

Love this song every time I hear it. If Nick played and sang this song at the same time, (which I assume that he did), that was an amazing feat in and of itself, not to mention the mood that this song evokes.

From Wikipedia:
In the early hours of 25 November 1974, Nick Drake died at home in Far Leys from an overdose of amitriptyline, a type of antidepressant. He had gone to bed early the night before, after spending the afternoon visiting a friend. Around dawn his parents heard him pass towards to the kitchen; they presumed to have a bowl of cereal. He returned to his room a short while later, and took some pills "to help him sleep". Drake was accustomed to keeping his own hours; he frequently had difficulty sleeping, and would often stay up through the night playing and listening to music, then sleeping late into the following morning. Recalling the events of that night, his mother later stated: "I never used to disturb him at all. But it was about 12 oclock, and I went in, because really it seemed it was time he got up. And he was laying across the bed. The first thing I saw was his long, long legs." There was no suicide note, although a letter addressed to Ryde was found near to his bed.
Nick Drake's gravestone is inscribed with the line 'Now we rise/And we are everywhere', taken from the final song on his final album.
At the inquest that December, Drake's coroner stated that the cause of death was as a result of "Acute amitriptyline poisoningself administered when suffering from a depressive illness", and concluded a verdict of suicide. Though this has been disputed by some members of his family, there is a general view that, accidental or not, Drake had by then given up on the world.
. . . 26 years old: R.I.P. Nick.

Anyone know where I can find the tabs for any Nick Drake songs? |

He is alittle dark along the line of say Tom Waits but truely a fine artist. You just have to be in the mood.

This guy seems to get consistently high marks from all, but I just don't get it at all. I'm from the era and had never heard of him, and can't say I missed anything. Really way too morbid for me, but glad you all like him cause he seems to get a lot of play on RP. Thank God for volume control.

Spenny wrote:This is a song that inspires be to pick up the guitar, retune and try and get those fingers moving... then you listen to the solo/middle eight part and there are three distinct lines playing. Then when you try singing at the same time you realise Nick sang in a completely different tempo or beat to what he is playing. A veritable one man "Take 5" experiment with time and music.

This is a really nice track. Would love to hear the Wind by Cat Stevens after this.Just in terms of theme of the individual versus everything around them.
'Guys like this inspire me to get off my arse and learn to play the guitar I got for Christmas in 2005.
