call me what you will, but i am one of the people that feel that the original version was, in fact, too short.

I love The Cure. I love 'Lullaby'. I hate this version.
Needs less cowbell.

Much prefer the Disintegration album version of this song. But hey, cure is cure...can't complain! always nice to hear |

This is a mighty long mix, I'll have to admit, but as others have said, it has a great groove, and is perfect coding music. For the timeslot (this is 7am on the east coast), it fits in well with my empty office, styrofoam encased coffee, and bagel.
I -really- do need to get more Cure though - I seem to have skipped that life-crisis point 15-20 years ago, and keep going "Wow. this is good. How'd I miss this?"
First real exposure to The Cure was via The Crow soundtrack - a great source for good angsty music. *nodnod* :)

On candystripe legs spiderman comes
Softly through the shadow of the evening sun
Stealing past the windows of the blissfully dead
Looking for the victim shivering in bed
Searching out fear in the gathering gloom and
Suddenly! a movement in the corner of the
Room! and there is nothing I can do when i
Realise with freight that the spiderman is having
Me for dinner tonight
Quietly he laughs and shaking his head creeps
Closer now closer to the foot of the bed and
Softer than shadow and quicker than flies his
Arms are all around me and his tongue in my
Eyes "be still be calm be quiet now my precious
Boy don't struggle like that or I will only love
You more for it's much too late to get away or
Turn on the light the spiderman is having you
For dinner tonight"
And I feel like I'm being eaten by a thousand
Million shivering furry holes and I know that in
The morning I will wake up in the shivering cold
And the spiderman is always hungry...

I'd rather hear a bad RP Song than dead air!
(Bill-- The last play of this was dead air.) |

Hard to believe they didn't mix it for optimal listening through your crappy laptop speakers. What were they thinking? |

Not a Cocteau Twins fan then. Lyrics are intelligible really. You just need a hearing aid. No really, it's very clear.
(in case anyone feels my feelings are hurt and I love the Cure. Well, I like them a lot and love the original song and the album but I actually do agree this version is poor. Too long and repetitive is a valid critiscism IMHO) |
