i'm sure they're both synths.  the deeper one might even be the same track instrument pitched down several octaves since it plays as the rhythm notes to the triangle fills.

sorry if that doesn't make any sense, i'm a total noob at production mixing.  :P

Probably a single synth, like a Motif, doing a basic loop with a couple of percussion samples.  You hear the same thing on Tears for Fears' "Shout," which likewise incorporates a triangle sample into its percussion loop.

I LOVE the Cure, but WHY THE HE11 does RP keep playing this mix of this song?  It is in the regular rotation, but they don't even play the original version?  I hear this song more often than any other cure song on RP!!!  How much does that suck?  Almost as much as this mix...

What's the story behind the lead singer's stage persona? Too much KISS as a kid? Or did acid while watching the movie Beetlejuice?

There can't be enough cowbell on some songs, but this one is not one of them. Give me the original over this remix any time.

Ahh those happy go lucky cure lads tinkering away with a couple of spoons on their dinner bowls over what was already a godlike song.  Can't say it enhances my enjoyment.

Please skip this version next time... A waste of time which could be used voor really good songs/music.

That's not a bicycle bell, it's a triangle (musical percussion instrument). The other, deeper sound is either another metal percussion piece or could be a synth effect. Really nice mix.

also think it's a triangle. the other one is a cowbell

I always liked this song, but that incessant clanking sound in the remix is really getting on my nerves... Beat
