Bumped from 8 —songs that I really wholeheartedly can recommend to anyone to a 9 —songs that I am always happy to hear/there's never a wrong time. Will it graduate to a 10 —songs that make the world a better place I think so. Check back in a year or so. |

Love playing this song for people who've never heard it before. Last time was when we had a few neighbors over, sitting around the kitchen bar having Saturday afternoon cocktails. After a couple of minutes it totally stopped the conversation as they all chimed in 'What the hell is this? It's great!'
"Yup, I know. And you're welcome."

I believe that was their primary intention. The past is the future.

So now, thanks to the lawyers, we in the States will remain unenlightened. I'm sure this is for the overall good. Somehow.
Fear not. . . a quick YouTube search comes up with this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=US&v=ghfklQz3QgkIf it blows out again then search for http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJfTa5SjDCY&feature=related Which is the original film this song was attached to but the lawyers have a problem with. . . sigh. |

While I empathize, your indignation is focused too narrowly imo. It is the executives at these companies - albeit many of them lawyers, but many accountants and MBAs - who make the decision to threaten litigation. Also, EMI is a British company, which may explain why you can't view it in the US (where your comment suggests you are). They probably have an agreement with YouTube to stream their official videos in Britian, but not the US. Or something like that. I can't view it in Canada, either. Nor can I view content from US networks like NBC on their official sites. But I can view them on Canadian network sites that air the same programs, if they offer that service. Same with Hulu stuff. We can't watch it in Canada. And people who don't live in Region 1 (basically, anyone but US and Canada), can't watch our DVDs and their DVDs on the same player more than five times! So politicians are also responsible, for passing laws - spurred on by corporate lobbyists - that create these little fiefdoms. And right now they are attempting to lock the Internet down with SOPA in order to preserve them a bit longer. |
