I was never a Squeeze fan, and I don't like this song at all. I really didn't like pop music in the 80's at all. I listened to Bach for the decade.

I've always loved Squeeze.

Back in the '80s, I found a lot of the music to be bloodless and cold (which was in style I guess).

Bands like Squeeze and XTC were more to my liking.

I agree Squeeze is a tight focused band whom takes advantage of their opportunities on tour. However, their  body of work stands on it's own in my opinion. They have a definite tongue in cheek point of view for much of the work but none the less, they are a tight, clever, talented, songwriting group.

As for Squeeze, I wasn't much of a fan until I saw them open for Elvis Costello on his first US tour. They were a tight, workman-like band who made the most of their 45 minutes, so I have at least respected them for their professionalism.

There are some sucko-barfo songs with such distinctive intros that I can hit mute within less than a second of them starting up. This is one. I never got into Squeeze even in their day - I don't doubt the quality of their songwriting and the quality of their 'kitchen sink' lyrics of ordinary life, but the delivery always got on my tits for some unknown reason. My loss, I'm sure.

I also used to have this on a 45 rpm vinyl record (which of course we just used to call a 45 before they became extinct in the 1980's).  Wish I still had it.

I keep hearing songs on RP that remind me of Squeeze; It's nice to hear them again. 

Glenn Tilbrook is an under rated guitarist and vocalist. Great band and just listen to that cool solo!!!
