Our studio is working on "Jesu - Joy of Man's Desiring" -- we have a great arrangement for Octarina, Jew's Harp and Double Eb Contrabass Sarusophone.

We'll upload it to RP soon.

Please, no calls, OK?

This is quite nice, but it makes me long for the "original" version for piano.

Dewling banjos gone soft - can't see this in Deliverance. Very nice though!">

God I miss The Far Side. Thank you for the reset. And, I fear, I must also agree with physicsgenius, as much as it pains me to do so. Moonlight Sonata is amazing and it would sound good anywhere. Somehow even the banjo works with it. It sure doesn't hurt that it's being done in Fleck's more than capable hands.

..."Some of the banjo players of the "classical" period were outstanding banjoists and could indeed play anything . The great Armenian- American banjo virtuoso Harry J. Chopourian was said to be able to play any violin score at sight and performed regularly as a soloist with symphony orchestras."....

I believe Bela falls into this category. He can play anything and everything on his banjo and make it his own and keep the integrity of the piece.

Call me names, but I hit mute and was happier hearing the wood chipper outside rather than this.

I dunno. I think a bluegrass version would be more appropriate if there has to be a banjo involved.

The banjo is a pretty interesting idea. But I can't tell how well it is working because Moonlight Sonata itself is so transcendentally good that it would sound great on a rusted kazoo.

What's wrong with rusted kazoos? They sound okay, they just taste awful.

Stop the presses! Wake the kids, phone the neighbors! I AGREE WITH PHYSICSGENIUS!! Whodathunkit?!

Seriously, Bela Fleck has taken the banjo to places it has never been before. Some would argue there's a REASON it hadn't been there. But the best musicians, like chefs, are always trying new things: some turn out delicious, others, uh, less so. I'm still on the fence on this one, but pg really did hit the nail on the head: the song itself transcends what it's played on.

Banjo in this song feels like a Sitar which gives it an oriental feeling. I like it.

I bought this album for my daughter, who bought a banjo and then decided she didn't want to play bluegrass.

Bela has a new album out with Chick Corea.
