Play this on regular American radio and folks wouldn't get it ( language aside) - this is why I like RP, it's NOT your normal radio station. Thanks RP! |

The song was annoying all on its own before the repeated airplay. |

If this song is overplayed on RP, I think it's a good choice for a song to overplay. Even so, this studio version isn't nearly as good as hearing/seeing these folks live. I caught the end of their set at the Finger Lakes Grassroots Festival (click here) and the energy coming from the stage was indescribable. Wow. If you ever have the chance to go to a live concert, you should jump at the opportunity. |

Don't lose sight of the fact that Radio Paradise does not have every song ever recorded and in many cases what they have is one song off of an album.
Just for fun, I looked at the playlist for 3 different 6 hour spans and found this song only once ...
Hearing this song every day would not bother me at all,
I still like it for what it's worth.
Remember on whom R.P. depends on for support.

Only on RP would anyone call a song like this overplayed :-P

Wow... I changed stations earlier today when I heard this song for the umpteenth time. Now, less than an hour after turning on RP again, this song comes up again. Time to changes stations again, I guess.

Decent beat, otherwise tedious. Made more so by overplay.

Nice song, but I've heard it so much on RP that I'm now sick of it. Sigh... too bad.

Yeah, great song, but it is so distinctive that its excessive airplay becomes quite noticeable...

Great sound! Thanks RP.
Another great African player is Mamar Kassey from Niger. In particular check out the disc "Denke'-Denke'". You will be delighted!

the addition of songs like these to the playlist are one of the many small things that make RP so kick ass.

This seems to be in heavy rotation here on RP. Less frequent play helps keep this very distinct song fresh IMO.

If you're into this. Check out So Kalmery. He's a dude from Congo, but his latest album, "Bendera" (spelling?) is available in the states and is fantastic.

This is a nice tune...but it's getting too much airplay. Maybe mix it up with a different cultural sound...perhaps some Cesaria Evora...a la Gypsy Kings?
Just a suggestion...

If you like African music, there's a great band from Mozambique called Eyuphuro -- you can find their first album, Mama Mozambiki, on the Real World label. It's really great. (They had another album out in 2001 according to cdnow.com, but I haven't heard it yet.)
