This song is excellent. It reminds me at my own youth. I like the bass and
the fine sounds of the trumpets!!

I swear, just before I clicked on the song, I was thinking... "I really need to download this to listen to in my car".  Just can't enough out of sitting at my desk at work....

Songs like this one stand as tall above average pop music like, say, the Mount Everest above a dune in the desert.

Well. . . I used to be a DJ at those discos. Sorry to hear you had a shite time. All I can remember is beer, fags (and again, for non UK's, that is cigarettes, not a gay disco) smoke machines and lots and lots of sweaty dancing.

As a direct result of RP I recently bought a double cd of the Temptations and danced like a loony with my girl at home. Get in!

Nice one Poacher Man!

HIGH VOICE:  "Hey Mama, is it true what they say, that Papa never worked a day in his life?"

REALLY LOW VOICE:  "And Mama, some bad talk going around town saying that Papa had three outside children and another wife.

hmmm. . .maybe Momma did some rolling too!

I quite agree, Mama was certainly no picture of purity either.

I remember being a kid and first hearing this (early 70's) and immediately loving it. i was also very fascinated by the subject matter.

I'm pretty sure Run DMC sampled it in Papa Crazy back in the 80s
Edit: looks like I was right, and a few other people have as well http://www.the-breaks.com/search.php?term=papa+was+a+rolling+stone&type=4
