thats the real delema isn't it? the music is good but because it is played so much, people will rate it down. i like it.

I agree absolutely - I don't hear this song on commercial radio, don't own the album, and am very glad to hear it here on RP...

In the interest of truth, I checked your list of "lowest rated songs," and you gave "Counting Blue Cars" a TWO and Dire Straits a THREE! That must have been before you discovered your true mission. Better go lower those ratings! ;-)

I've tried, I really have. My oldest son is in college, and he has been trying to make me a DMB convert. I just can't get into them, and he can't understand it.

Then again, he can't appreciate The Beatles arrangements, Steely Dan's compositions, Bonnie Raitt's feeling and beauty, and Paul Simon's diversity.

I guess that's why we have Radio Paradise to play it all!

It's hard to imagine getting sick of DMB, but I supposed if I listened to them enough it could happen to me. I still really like them and think they have a nice complex sound. Not sure if they are formula. I would just say they definitely have their own style.

Like the Lord, who giveth and taketh away, RP has turned me on to some new musicians and has made me sick to f***ing death of others. DMB is definitely in the latter category.

okay, i am a BIG dave fan and somewhat biased, but i don't think i'm going out on a limb here. dave's lyrics and the band's style still beat a lot of what you hear out there. maybe it's just because you're used to it now... try to remember the first time you heard a DMB song and how DIFFERENT it sounded from the rest of the druck being played. i find his lyrics, especially, to be insightful and uplifting in an uncheesy way.

okay, rant over. thank you, RP, for providing such a wonderful forum.

Hey, the first time I heard "Una Paloma Blanca" I thought it sure was different, too. But I'd still give it a 1 if I heard it on RP.

Tired band, tired sound, tired of hearing them. Ashamed that a group with such talent cannot find it in them to stray from the same OLD formula album after album.

All I can say is ditto about DMB. One of the things that I like most about DMB is the fact that you can hear the personalities of the musicians in their playing. Dave certainly has a singing style all his own and you either like it or not, but IMHO this band is innovative and sets itself apart from its cookie cutter contemporaries.

That said, there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. With so little time in a day and so much good stuff to hear. I'm not there yet but I sure can appreciate others reaching their threshold.

Very nice following Bela Fleck with DM. Very obvious how the two have influenced each other.

havent we already hear FAR far more than enough from these guys? c'mon. there's so many good tracks in the RP library that NEVER get played, and yet it seems like sappy elevator music from DMB gets played non-stop.

Well, this is a Dave Matthews song I really like. It leaves him enough space to get his emotions (that sound sincere) across.
Often his music sounds somewhat busy and unfocused to me, so the emotions involved get lost a bit.

I thought I was the only person in America who didn't "get" the DMB, then decided to check out the posts here--good to know I'm not completely alone! I just find his music boring and tepid, his arrangements pedestrian, and his lyrics absurdly pretentious.
