To be perfectly honest, I think most everything by Dave is nothing but amazing. I'm a huge Dave fan and I really think that you just have to love Dave to really get the full effect. Everything off of the Busted Stuff album is pretty cool in my opinion...but if you really want some good stuff then go buy one of his older albums. Get BTCS or Under The Table or even Crash, there are some songs that I think Dave may never be able to top, but he still put those amazing songs out. The 29th I saw him and Tim Reynolds in Boone, N.C. and it was one of the greatest shows I've ever seen. It's a totally different experience than seeing Dave w/ the band! I guess everyone has their own opinion, but I think Dave is a great artist, every song he puts out I love! Hope every has checked out the Blue Man Group feat. Dave video...you can find it on the internet, it's really cool! Also, download Dave's new song that he played on the Dave and Tim tour, Stay or Leave, it's great! |

Guess you eaither love em or hate em. If you're not sure which way you're leaning, check out a live show. It's a different experience than listening on radio or cd.
That said, i used to be a big fan, but i'm rather sick of them at this point

LOL . . . do you happen to frequent fark.com? Lotta kittie killin' goin' on over there.
Regarding DMB, their music is pretty overplayed on the lame excuses for FM stations here in LA, but I enjoy hearing a song or two from them occasionally on RP. This particular song is quite likable IMHO. |

I don't dig. There's way too much youthful pretense in Dave for someone in his 30s. His writing feels self-congratulatory to me. Meh, the only members of the band that are worth anything are the drummer and bassist. The rest are a joke - including Dave. |

Yes!! Me too. I just find myself not wanting to subject myself to their music. |

I am a huge DMB fan, as many know. I think he is an amazingly gifted lyric writer, as well as guitar player. He and his band have been together almost 20 years, and they put on one of the most tight live shows going. YAY DMB!! |

DMB is all right by me. Love the change ups and tweaking he does to rhythms. He sneaks in beats unexpectedly and very lyrically to these ears. Quite the poet, too. Encore! |

I thought the selection of instruments is one of the factors that defines a genre in the first place. But we're getting hung up on symantics. Sax or no sax, the song is dull. |

Well, let me know when the E. Street band start backing Dave "Tuneless" Matthews, and we can re-evalutate the rule.
I never claimed this wasn't rock, just that it sucked.

I used to like some DMB until I came to RP. Now I have developed a Pavlovian response where at the first few notes of any DMB song, my hand involuntarily reaches for the mute button. Bill, I just don't understand why we have to hear DMB so many times a day. There is so much other music out there. The same comment applies to Natalie Merchant :)

This "Saxaphone rule" is ridiculous.
That said, I'm *so* f**king sick of DMB. For crying out loud, it's the same songs, day after day after day after day... |
