Joshua Tree was the defining album of the 80's. The pinnacle of that decade that loomed so large in my own personal history.

I mean, just look at that hat on the cover of the album! That hat symbolized all that was good about the 80s!

Just like Boney M's Night Flight To Venus was the highwater mark of the 70's. Ra Ra Rasputin!

The UNCUT, a British music magazine featured a special about 'the Joshua Tree' and had quite a nice CD with music that influenced U2 then. Very nice actually :)

Mad fads tamper with everything, eventually.

Great song by U2 - sleep comes like a drug, in god's country.... sad eyes, crooked crosses, in god's country -- you said it, bono

A rating of 8.2!?!? U2 is okay and I understand that people like it very much, but that's exagerated for this particular song. Did a mad fad somehow tamper with the ratings?

Ahhhhh....stepping away from the ledge. Bill, you continue to restore my faith in RP. Nothing short of a burner like "In God's Country" could save you from the depravity you created by playing a Madonna cover!

Odd that one of the best songs is them basically ripping off the early Echo & the Bunnymen sound.

I agree. Would also like to hear more Eno.

I agree with some other posts that U2 tends to be overplayed on RP, but...

Love this song, love this album. Production credit also to Daniel Lanois, an under-appreciated artist in his own right.

Oooooh...love this one! The guitar, the angst...

One of my favorite U2 songs...but then again, just about every U2 song is my favorite.

Agreed. I can barely stand to listen to the "first side" anymore, but I've never grown tired of the songs at the end of the Joshua Tree album.

If U2 could write ANY songs, then you would be justified in saying that 'this is not your favorite U@ song.' Unfortunately, they are unable to create art of any type. U2, go home.

Perhaps you should start your own station and then it can be perfect all the time for everyone.

Ron, THAT WAS MY POINT. This 'new' song isn't new.

You may be cool with listening the same band every 2 hours, but "Top 40 Eclectic" is no different than "Top 40 Bubblegum" in my book. This is the 4th U2 song I've heard here today.

Saw them play this last fall. I like the electric version a bit better, but I was pretty thrilled just to finally hear it live.

Oh no! More U2???

Somebody wake me up. I'm having this terrible nightmare that a new song got added, only to discover that it is just another standard tune from a standard band.

Before all you U2 defenders of the faith go after me, let me state that I love U2 (including this song). I'm just sick of hearing them constantly.

Sorry Bill, I'm just having a really hard time with the playlist today. There hasn't been a song on all day that I haven't heard here a hundred times before. I know I can't say that about all the tunes on the playlist. (Hey, I don't recognize the Blind Melon tune on now, thanks.)
