Why is it that EVERY TIME this song plays it breaks up for a moment?  I'm beginning to think that the song file is flawed and it's not my connection.  Bill if others agree you should check for a better copy of the song.

BTW I like this song a lot.  I'll give it a 7!

What a shame that this is the only Verve song that stations ever play.  There's a reason that no-one ever plays the original - it's a stupid song.  The Verve produced a great debut EP (Verve) and follow-up album (A Storm in Heaven).  Even the sophomore album (A Northern Soul) is pretty good.  It's a crime that we never get to hear the music from them and just get a cover of Rolling Stones pop music.  Maybe authentic Verve music is too cacophonous for general consumption.  Where's a station that can play it or Spiritualized, My Bloody Valentine, The Cranes or 'In the Presence of Nothing'?

The "original", from which the entire, looped, backing-music track of this song comes, is an instrumental cover of a Jagger/Richards composition - "The Last Time (which is far from "stupid"), as recorded by the Andrew Loog Oldham Orchestra - that's probably why no one ever plays it.  RP plays more Verve tunes than just this one.

why do I like this song? I can't help singing along with it even though it is repetitive. I just like it.

Definitely in the running for New US National Anthem. I wept openly at Coachella when they played this at the reunion a couple years ago.

You can't get every artist you'd like on one station.  I am actually amazed at just how many of my favroite songs and bands pop up here, unexpectedly.  Sometimes I think it's just uncanny how it happens.  Then again, there is a lot I don't care for.   I could do without all the blues and other stuffy tunes.

Have any of you haters actually listened to the album?  It's pretty good, and most of the songs are nothing like this one.  "Lucky Man" and "The Drugs Don't Work" are especially good, I think.

There's a reason the song went #1 in Canada, #2 in the UK and #4 in the US. There was talent behind it.

One hit wonder.

They keep trying to reproduce its theme in their later work. Move on, guys.

Such an incredible song! It all just WORKS!  SO lame The Stones went after them for the background riff that you really can't even hear in the song.

Always nice to know Mick and Keith get to make a few more quid.

Or if my man below is right — it sucks to know the estate of Alan Klein gets a few more bucks.

Completely agree about this song.  In fairness, the Moody Blues' string arrangements were pretty simplistic, too, but the songwriting was much better.  Rarely boring and repetitive, except for a yawner here and there like The Other Side of Life.
