Very good indeed - this chap was a proper eccentric character with a lot of unorthodox ideas and techniques. A legend indeed! {#Crown}

Nick Drake was a weird, gentle, classically trained, insane singer/songwriter in the Syd Barrett line. Overdosed at twenty-six, probably on purpose. Wrote "Pink Moon." Was born upper-class British, was probably molested, smoked more marijuana than the rest of the world combined, owned and wore only one outfit for the last two years of his life, roamed. Despite writing three of the finest albums in jazz-folk-depressed history (with guest appearances by John Cale and members of the Beach Boys), had no career in his own lifetime, largely due to his refusal to give interviews or play live or even talk. But the longer he's dead, the better he's loved.

If you don't like Nick Drake - don't worry. He probably wouldn't have liked you either!  He's a god in my eyes along with much of the music industry. And he's badly missed in this age of over-produced, manipulated, predictable and immaterial pop crap that has a shelf life shorter than a jam doughnut.

if you watch the documentary "a skin too few" you will learn that he hasn't overdosed on purpose but that it was a medical
error on behalf of his doctor. just for the record.

either way, on of the most tragic losses of the musical history.

Nick was clearly in a place I never want to visit when he made this album but the music that came out of it was undeniable beautiful. How can someone so tortured produce something so wonderful?

This is my favorite Nick Drake song.  It's amazing that he forgot how to play guitar when you consider how masterfully this song was played.

Based on ratings here I went aqnd got the Pink Moon LP

This is one seriously needy performer.

Overall, the albumn is a major downer

Talent is undeniable... but no reason to inflict this on us... and I extend to whole Pink Moon effort

Well jeez Bob...how do you err....explain the high ratings then?? No need to play music for people that those people like, huh?

My impression of the album was the same.  "Downer" is putting it lightly - it is downright chilling in it's depression and hopelessness.
However, I bought it with the box set, and the other 2 albums are more light.
