While I wouldn't want to listen to it often, I have to stick up for Mr. Denver's rendition. He had a great voice and this is a classic. I, for one, think his version stands the test of time. There. I said it.

I'm just grinnin' ear to ear laughing at this, knowing how many times I heard John's version.

Nice to see Toots & the Maytals return to their West Virginia country roots.

Great twist on the folksy one I know.

Better than some bluegrass versions I've heard of Bill Danoff and Taffy Nivert's old tune. Yeah, they were the writers of Afternoon Delight, too, from the Starland Vocal Band.

Funny thing is the Blue Ridge mountains are in Virginia, as is most of the Shanendoah river. An interesting inside-the-beltway view of WV that got set in pop-culture stone...

I certainly like this version better than John Denver's...even if I can't help singing along and putting my home state back in.

Not the best song ever, by any stretch, but nostalgia packed in a format I can listen to, thanks!

Badump-ump.

That being said, not bad. I kinda like John Denver's version, but this one just seems more upbeat - the version that I'd definitely choose for my "long trip" playlist.

Certainly is a twist on this old song. Not a fan of the original or this cover though.
