Israel, Keola Beamer, The Brothers Cazimero, if there's a heaven, I hope that Hawaii is a hint of what it might be like.

It sincerely breaks my heart to think Israel has passed. Sing on, my brother.

Oh so sad - I shipped a present back to my mom from Hawaii, and she open the box and took out the shirt, and accidentally threw out the CD!

Too bad his weight finally did him in - an amazing voice.

He was a true son of Hawaii, has falsetto voice melts me !

Great song. The picture reminds me of a AbFab scene: (paraphrased from memory)

Eddy - "Inside of me there is a skinny person trying to get out"

Eddy's mum - "Just the one, dear?"

How come there's no George on RP? C'mon, Fred, upload something!

I would but I don't have anything of his digitized.

I remember listening to him signing "Over the Rainbow" when I held my first born in my arms after her first bath at home. I remember thinking that my life was perfect.

Thanks to his gentle, perfect voice ... it is my daughters favourite tune (shes now 7) and mine too

thanks RP...

Wow, did THIS board get off track. Time to bring it back to the music.

Beautiful post, huebdoo. I will think of this every time I hear IZ's "Over the Rainbow."

Note to flyboy—so it's not BS, and I'll accept your take back on the facts. I was unaware that ministers were calling for Bush's death from the pulpit as well. No matter what I thought of his policies and his presidency, I find any such notion repugnant and morally abhorrent. Fair enough?

Israel was featured on NPR's Top 50 Voices of All Time. Apparently, the album he did with the "Over the Rainbow" is still the top selling record of Hawaiian music. He had a beautiful talent.
