"I Know My Mind, I Only Know I'm Mine" I like that line a lot, the rest is fantabulous too, of course, from the Pearls, whatdyaexpect? Riot Act?

I'm not a Pearl Jam fan. They write a lot of music that goes nowhere. But this one is absolutely fantastic. The tone of his voice is pleasant to me and his phrasing is amazing. The guitar work is stellar. It's a 10 in my book.

Pearl Jam has earned my respect.

You are right. Maybe that is why I like this so much.

i'm curious where you base your "cliche alt vocal" comment, since they've been around for fifteen years now

seems to me that you're drawing the comparison in the wrong direction, there are alot of bands (creed, nickelback) who to me, are alot more 'cliche alt rock' and in my opinion, are major pearl jam/eddie rip off

couldn't agree more. . .

Right. It was hallucinagenic jelly, made by his native american grandmother for his native american grandfather who liked it.

What seventh grade perverted adolescent convinced the person who commented about the origin of the band's name that it was a reference to sperm? I'm not a rabid pearl jam fan, I used to listen to them a lot in the early 90's however and read a great many interviews and articles that actually researched their sources.

pearl jam.....jeez. guess they got it from the ole pearl necklace reference.

I'm getting a bit tired of Eddie (especially his political whine bullshit) but I do like their early 90's stuff before he started the whine crap....just my HO....

I almost hate to comment because I know lots of you guys love this band, but this band has never done it for me. Eddie's billy goat vibrato and the effected cliche "alt" vocal style just turn me off.

There are a couple of songs that I find appealing though, maybe if someone else sang them.

I disagree with 99% of what you said, but he does sound like goat boy on this song.

It seems many people have misread that zealous pursuit of "integrity" and just want to bash them for those very efforts. one gets the sense that there is almost an anger directed at Pearl Jam related to things non-musical.

A shame.

Pearl Jam fought, unsuccessfully, to keep the Ticketmaster gang from gouging concert goers. They stepped away from the commercial hype machines such as MTV. They do everything in their power to keep the best seats in the house for the fans and not the record company/advertising muckety mucks. Their ticket prices are kept much lower than the market would bear while other bands try to grab as much lucre from their "fans" as they can.

Plus, "Riot Act" is a very good album.

If you speed up any Pearl Jam song it sounds like the Go-Go's / Belinda Carlisle.
Kinda like Elvis sped up sounds like Cher.

That Belinda Carlisle observation is hilarious. I can really hear it. Another singing sheep. But somehow I find it easier to tolerate a male singing sheep than a female singing sheep. Go figure.

so excited to see PJ in Vancouver in September...it's so thoughtful of them to play a concert on my birthday! I'm sure they had that in mind when they scheduled this tour...
