This is another entry which's comments I've avoided, because I first heard of him on (click here)Acoustic Cafe, where Rob Reinhart played "3000 Miles" - and I totally related to it. It was a travelogue of life.
I recorded an entire cassette of music from a local Eugene, Oregon radio station (which later caved to top 40 crap), and Ellis Paul's "3,000 Miles" was there, in addition to a local artist's "Crazy Man" (and I can't right now come up with the artist, but I promise, if you dig deeply enough, you'll find it and it'll be worth the work, because the man's incredible.)

I love the distinctive voice and the lyrics. OK, so 'pop open' is an interesting image for lips, but "Falling like a thief from a roof" and "Dances like nobody's watching" are just wonderfull. |

I always feel bad about this, but I've always felt like Ellis Paul was a little too... self-consciously perfect. Can't figure out how else to put it. I know people are crazy about him. I like some of his songs very much, but... kind of like, "I'm so sensitive..."
