If you want to start at the beginning, go listen to Split Enz, his first band. While there were some silly, frenetic songs like "shark attack", there is some early signs of his genius in melodic song writing.

"I hope I never see you again" being one of the most beautiful songs...

She is the actress who played the lawyer that Harrison Ford has a fling with in the movie Presumed Innocent (I think). She's been in other stuff, but that's the only movie that comes to mind at the moment.

According to the Internet Movie Database the lucky Finn brother to date her was Tim, not Neil.

Neil played at the Basilica Block Party in Minneapolis and invited a member of the audience to come up on-stage and sing Better Be Home Soon with him--Unreal guy....

I think he sucks! Just kidding. You're right there are no objections. Its totally unoffensive easy listening. I guess that's why.

Goodness. I never knew that. I think it's safe to say that Neil Finn has had a pretty good run. Greta's body is to die for, and if you are male (qualifier: or female, and have an interest in the female body, not that there's anything wrong with that..) and have been lucky enough to see the films where she bares all, well, you've had a good run also. She's THAT beautiful.

I love Split Enz. I love Crowded House. I love Neil Finn solo. If we have another boy his name will be Finn.

After just hearing the Beatles and "Rain" Crowded House definitely sounds similar to the Beatles, IMHO.

One of many excellent songs by these guys. They really should get back together and do some more recording.

A great song from a criminally "overlooked" band.

Every time I hear this song I think of "Tom Joad" by the Samples. Both are great tunes!

It's interesting that someone else had the same experience with CH I'm having- after some recent exposure I'm wondering how the hell I missed them in high school, college or anytime afterwards. It's like I had an unfortunate aural blind spot to them or something. All I can think is that I wasn't floored by their singles/hits and marginalized them as a result. I'm just glad the error has been rectified. This track is fantastic.

Another RP "peak experience". Really most excellent, don't know that I've ever heard it, even back when Crowdwd House was big.

I would start at the beggining. The 1st album is amazing, as is Temple of Low men, as is woodface...my fave is the last one though. Check out the Finn Brothers cd and the 2 solo Neil albums, get em all!!!!!!!!! lol

saw this band when they first hit it big (late 80s) in seattle, bumberchute (or however it is spelled). what a fun show, they even did a zepplin tune if you can believe that.

"A zep song each nite! A dfferent one each nite!"
I have a crystal clear recording of them doing Dancing Days in SF (I taped the show while I was there, as it was simulcast on the radio).

it's the same show where Neil asked if anyone had anything to say "we're on the radio!" and a guy leaned into the mike and said "Bill, thanks for taping the show! And now we're gonna do a little ditty called Twist and Shout..." and lo and behold, they cranked into it. He flubbed almost all the lyrics, but the band gamely played on behind him. It was in-freakin-credible.

I saw them thrice, and wish for those days again. I was quite disappointed when they broke up...

Someone wrote this, intriguingly: The "uncluttered" version is also very amazing. It's on the Afterglow CD.

So I would ask you to play that.

This has been a great group of segues tonight. Thanks.

If you really like it, sure. "Together Alone" is the album. The songs "Pineapple Head", "Distant Sun" and "Catherine's Wheel" stand out for me. If you like their big songs from their self-titled "Crowded House" album "Don't Dream It's Over" and "Something So Strong", you may wan't to get that one. On the other hand, "Temple of Low Men" may have their best songs: "I Feel Possessed", "Into Temptation" and "Better Be Home Soon". My personal favorite is "Woodface". Neil's brother Tim adds some incredible harmony vocals that I can't get enough of. The songs tempt you to sing along, except in my case, it totally ruins the song.... Hope that helps, enjoy :)

Only one of the best songs ever created in the history of man...well, something like that. Definately "godlike". Love love love Crowded House, Neil Finn. Makes me feel all fuzzy inside.
