Yeah as if the Indigo Girls, Peter Gabriel (In your Eyes for chrissake?!?) and Glen Hansard played previously didn't do it already. This song actually brought me back. |

Great song. I never noticed, though, just how badly out of tune the bass is. I wonder who it is who probably shudders at every playing of this song.

You have no idea how much trouble this song caused me back in the day. Decided to fool around in spite of having a great girlfriend - "Don't talk of love." etc.
Well the great girlfriend obviously figured it all out. Suffered much pain. What happened to the rock?
But forty years later the great girlfriend and I are still together - with four great adult kids sprinkled around the world - so it all worked out! Ahhh... Life. Ain't it grand. Most times. |

I'm grumpy, angry at humankind, and it's a bleak, gray winter day.
This song really hits the spot today.

One of those songs, man...
Sister (I mean Sergeant) Ruth Ann laying down the needle on the vinyl in the classroom...and THIS rolling out...It's like 1st or 2nd grade...my buddy Jeff Hoover saying, "But Sister, I ALREADY KNOW this -- my mom and dad have this record and I hear it ALL THE TIME. Do I have to hear it AGAIN?"
"YES!"
"Aww...but I'd rather hear that other one, Lemon Tree, very pretty, and the lemon flower sweet...or that one, Cecilia, up in my bedroom--"
"Young man, you have said enough. Let us listen to THIS SONG. Do we HAVE AN UNDERSTANDING, Mister?!"
"Yes, Sister Ruth Ann..."
and so it went, and so we got turned on to S & G -- and next up, The Sounds of Silence.
GOD was with them dudes, man, and He visits me every time I hear 'em, God bless 'em, and anyone who plays 'em...
Thanks, Bill!
