He might be ok for the basement/garage set. I'll give him that. I'd rather listen to my cats fight than to a N.Y. song.
Well, lets put aside that ridiculous statement, but lets examine......Neil Young has never won a grammy award in his 30 + years of making music, so does that count as overrated? He has never gone with the trends of stupid pop music, well almost never. His lyrics in "Thrashers" are possibly the best lyrics I have ever heard, and that includes the great Bob Dylan. Oh, and he did make the Rolling Stones top 100, but way down somewhere around 40 or so....Nirvana and Aerosmith were well ahead of him. If you think of the most overrated artists in history, I think you better start with Aerosmith and Nirvana, and continue with Santana, etc before you even think about Neil Young (who is vastly underrated, if you ask me).
Have fun listening to your cats...For a more listening pleasure, try "Rust never sleeps" by Neil Young. It may change your mind and your cats will be happier too. |

Not from LR...something else. Probably a new Greatest Hits CD. Young rocks though. |

Seriously, I think you hit the mark with this statement:
It's thought provoking, sad, tragic, and stirs the soul to think about missed opportunities, something we could all do well to think about. |

Anyone who thinks this song is "genius" has succumbed to peer pressure or you're just deaf.
Seriously, if this was a song by some guy nobody has ever heard of, you'd all be saying there's a reason that nobody has ever heard of him: He can't sing.

No one ever accused Bob Dylan of having much of a voice either, but is that all there is to singing? This is a brilliant song. It's thought provoking, sad, tragic, and stirs the soul to think about missed opportunities, something we could all do well to think about. |

Neil... what can you say.. the best "ragged but right" guy there is. Great song, and boy, how does he get that incredible bad-ass guitar tone!!!??? Sounds roughly like an overdrive pedal through an overdriven amp... boy, you never mistake his playing. It tears your head off.
