I've also heard that it was a story Skynyrd was familiar with about either a moonshining / drug running family who the Feds busted one day while the youngest boy was left in charge. Since he was young and had to act, he chose to fight even though deep down he heard his father's warning and knew he couldn't win the battle. The last image is him at the dock, fatally wounded, falling into the water and seeing his image reflected back at him - wishing that his life was not cut so short and to have truly lived a life with a full love and the happiness that could be. |

This is such a wonderful song with a mysterious story - allegedly gotten from Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Neil has so much music running around in his head, and I'm so glad he lets some of it out for a spin.

I think Neil's whinging is delightful.
But Seriously Folks, this is an incredible song....if you take the time to listen to it, he evokes the sense of desperation in someone who has to deal with something way too early in life. Tragic, sad, beautiful. |

Just a little trivia: The australian band (or is it it New Zealand) Powderfinger (quite good band btw) is named after this song. And the riff always reminds me of the theme for a Heidi series shown for a while here on german TV. ;)

Dear RP-
You guys can't play too much Neil for me! Thanks! :)
A cut from On the Beach would be great! Perhaps Ambulance Blues...it's 8+ minutes long and would be a very nice Neil fix!
