Agreed. Specially when the chorus comes, I feel shivers all down my spine. Must be that I'm resonating too :-)

Interesting that you equate your own dislike of Bjork's vocal style with a lack of talent or skill on her part. you may not like her particular sound -- it's an acquired taste, to be sure -- but whether it's your taste or not, it's unfair to denegrate her very real skill. She's got a vocal range and expression that surpasses "mediocre" on even her worst days. None of which, by the way, was at all half-assed or later-life. Bjork has studied music and was singing professionally since she was in grammar school.

For myself, this song has grown on me, unexpectedly. The vocal affectation still irks me if I think about it too much, but that's just me.

THIS is the song I've been humming for a week! Thank goodness it came on this morning, because I was going to have to resort to the Song Tapper(click here) to try and come up with it.

(I recently realized that the theme from Shakespeare in Love was the song that I'd hum in my idle time all throughout college and could never figure out what it was.)

So I notice how quick some are to jump in on songs like this and say "she's trying to be bjork". blah blah blah.

How 'bout this scenario: What if none of these women ever sang publicly in their lives; not even in gradeschool choir. Now enter Bjork. Suddenly it's okay to have a mediocre singing voice; and a whole slew of mediocre women singers start crawling out of the closets and from the cracks in the floorboards. Hey--some of them even record albums and get some airplay. Is it bad? No, but I don't jump to say "bjork wannabe"... I just simply think bjork made it okay to sing half-assed. For the record, I like a bjork song or two, but mostly think she's overrated. There have been other mediocre singers in the past. Why are these songs always compared to hers?

You are so very right!!

Give me the originals any day: Alanis and Bjork. Why settle for someone who is a watered down version of the real thing? And that picture just says it all. Right, real cute!

Perfect discription. I sit up and take notice everytime this song comes on. I'd like to hear more from this artist.

The song overall isn't bad, but it seems that the music is no match for the voice. The singer seems to be putting too much effort into this song.

I agree. Maybe more like "AM Lite." While I like AM's stuff, this song sucks.

That goes for me too. Learned of the Wailin Jennys which followed by couple of tracks on RP too. And many more.
