His style is too British to ever get much attention anywhere else really.. Another Punk/Mod-turned-mainstream yawn in my very humble opinion.

Great song.

what's a Paul Weller and how can he have a "greatest hits" when I've never heard of him?

He's been around a long time - had a band called the Jam, and I think there was another one.  Then solo work.  He's a good one.

This is a classical ballad, beautifully arranged and rendered ... dancing under the moon with your forever-girl ...

Hmm this came on today and I was actually kind of happy to hear it. Not quite as ponderous as those others. I still haven't rated it because the range is too wide. Today a 6, most days a Joe Cocker-esque 3.

Goddamnit I sure do love this song. I have a hard time attaching this Paul Weller to the Jam. This reminds me more of Dave Mason's stuff. Soo soulful and good!

Beck, The Cure, Armatrading to Paul Weller!!!
Whoa! What a set for a Friday night!!
Unfortunately, I'm here at work, but not working...I'm thinking about the lyrics of these songs.
And now Noir Desir! NO work from me dear manager.

I love this track and most Paul Weller music in general.  Quite why he is called Modfather I don't know - must have been his PRs - since not very much of his music pertains to or relates to the mods n rockers thing of the 60s in any way shape or form.   He's not that old.  Just the need of the press to give labels I guess.   A fine elder statesman of English music anyway....just more hippy than mod in the Wild Wood/Stanley Road era.

Not complaining though.  8/10

Paul Weller was the theme of a book, The Modfather, in which David Lines documented his life growing up in Leeds, and his adolescent obsession with Paul Weller. Paul was certainly influenced by 'Mod' style throughout his career and does come from the era of Mods & Rockers where sharp suits, pills and scooters were the thing. There is no one else that 'fits' the title Modfather better than Paul IMHO.
