I've uploaded several Howlin' Wolf London Sessions songs (feat. Steve Winwood and Eric Clapton -in their teens!) hopefully they will survive the LRC and make it here. |

Why am I sometimes so annoyed by the old-time blues RP plays, but at the moment I'm digging it very much? Maybe my tastes are.... mmmmm... I dunno.... ECLECTIC?

Back in the late seventies, I went to my first New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Listened to "a big black man" who just blew me away. After inquiring, I found out it was Big Joe Turner, and I've never forgotten what a distinct impression he made on me. He was quite the performer with his white handkerchief wiping the sweat from his brow, as he belted out the tunes!

Yes, there are a lot of these kinds of stories -- black blues musicians whose music was pirated by white rock artists who then popularized the music. And the original versions almost always were better. |

Whew. So much better than the last few songs. This is the stuff that so many other artists try to copy but fail!

Gotta love these lyrics. :D Maybe it's just me, but it seems they got cleaned up a bit for Bill Haley. Or maybe it's all in the style of the performance.

Folks: this is the bedrock of rock and roll. I mean, this cat helped to name what followed "rock and roll." Utterly fantastic!!
